Farm websites have the tendency to feel less professional and more home-made. While the DIY look is at times charming, finding sought out information can be a chore. Working with the Sussex, NJ Vernon Valley Farm, one of the state’s largest grass-fed beef farms, the decision was made to stand out from the crowd and focus on clarity and transparency.
Keeping the website feeling light and open allowed for a lot of information to be presented without overwhelming users. Photos are abundant, prices are clearly organized, and placing an order can be done using the included form. Built on a responsive content management system, this farm website can be easily updated and also includes a blog for sharing news and events.
The result has been overwhelmingly positive. Customers are engaging with the site’s content, and the result has led to an increase in both well educated phone orders and in-person visits and purchases at the weekend farm stand. The community supported agriculture program was able to sell out its first year of shares and has planned for a larger next season.
Visit the Vernon Valley Farm website to learn about responsible farming in New Jersey, order grass-fed beef, pastured pork, sign up for a CSA share, or meet your meat in person.
